Sarah Brickman has dedicated herself to public service through her work in outdoor education. As the co-president of Stanford Outdoor Outreach Program (SOOP), Sarah helps organize and facilitate day hikes and backpacking trips for underprivileged high school students. SOOP provides participants with opportunities to explore and experience natural environments, in addition to fostering community among the students and their high school teachers. When not volunteering for SOOP, Sarah spends her time coordinating an Alternative Spring Break class and trip that focuses on the links between education and incarceration in the United States and leading tours at Jasper Ridge Biological Preserve. Sarah is interested in pursuing a career in environmental and outdoor education because she views these fields as tools for inspiring sustainable behavior. She is happiest when she is sharing the magic of the outdoors with other people.
