The Office of Multicultural Affairs

The Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA) coordinates diversity programs within the School of Earth, Energy & Environmental Sciences (SE3), facilitates partnerships between SE3 and private industry, and forms community alliances with Stanford and other universities. In recognition of the value of the unique perspectives and experiences derived from differences in race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, work experience, socio-economic class, national origin, and other diverse backgrounds, we strive to recruit and support a diverse faculty, staff, and student body, and to build collaborative national and international partnerships that aim to further research and education in the Earth sciences.

Through initiatives like STREAM (developing pathways for historically underrepresented scholars into our graduate programs), and specific programs like SURGE (a summer residential program providing mentored research experiences for undergraduate scholars ) and U2U (fostering collaboration with partner institutions for building capacity in the geosciences), we are working to develop a faculty, staff, and student body that reflect the diversity of our national communities and international partners.
