Dynamics in borosilicate melts

We are currently using high temperature MAS NMR to measure the rate of exchange among network species, such as three- and four-coordinated boron, in multicomponent borosilicate melts to temperatures well above their glass transition temperatures. Spectra are analogous to those shown below from one of our recent studies of oxide ion dynamics at high temperature in a crystalline ionic conductor, calcia-stabilized zirconia.
