Academics

Most students in our group work towards Ph.D. degrees in Geological and Environmental Sciences (GES). Often, students in our program also earn M.S. degrees in Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) by completing sufficient course work in that department. We occasionally host Ph.D. students from MSE as well. Students, postdocs, and research associates in our group come to Stanford with varying backgrounds and interests, including geochemistry, mineralogy, petrology, materials science, chemistry, and applied physics.
