Caroline Scruggs is an Assistant Professor in Community & Regional Planning’s Natural Resources and Environmental Planning concentration, and has a background in environmental science, engineering, and policy.
Her doctoral research was situated at the intersection of science, business, and policy, and centered on management and safe use of chemicals with a focus on consumer products. She has BS and MS degrees in Environmental Engineering from Virginia Tech and ten years of consulting experience on water quality projects around the world. Caroline has also written numerous articles in professional and peer-reviewed journals; is an EPA STAR Fellow, a Udall Foundation Fellow, and a licensed professional engineer; and has taught environmental courses as a visiting lecturer at several universities. At UNM, she plans to continue pursuing interdisciplinary research and teaching related to the environment, public health, environmental policy, and sustainable development.
