Stanford's Bing Overseas Studies Program in Australian Coastal Studies offers students a unique opportunity to explore and learn about the enormous diversity of coral reefs and rainforests while studying Australian culture. In collaboration with the Centre for Marine Studies at the University of Queensland, Stanford students study the marine biology and ecology of the Great Barrier Reef and the coastal rainforest in some of the most pristine coral reefs, rainforests, and coastal ecosystems in the world. Kevin Arrigo, professor of environmental Earth system science, co-director of the Earth Systems Program, and this quarter's faculty director, sent home these photos from some of his students.
