Courses

Geophysics 161/261 - CEE 161S/261S. The Atmosphere and Global Environmental Change - The atmosphere and its role in global environmental change. Topics include atmospheric chemistry and physics, solar dimming, the greenhouse model, cooling and warming components of climate, and the recovery of stratospheric ozone in a changing atmosphere. Prerequisites: MATH 51, CHEM 31 or equivalents. 3 units, Aut (Tabazadeh)

Geophysics 136/236 -CEE 161T/261T. Aerosols, Clouds and Climate Change- Natural and manmade aerosol particles in the Earth's atmosphere. Topics include sources and formation mechanisms of aerosol particles, thermodynamics of aerosol growth and cloud formation, and coupling interactions between aerosol and cloud particles and how such interactions influence climate and atmospheric chemistry. MATH 51, CHEM 31 or equivalents. Term project. 3 units, Win (Tabazadeh)

Geophysics 263 - CEE 261U. Atmospheric Heterogeneous Processes. Atmospheric physicochemical processes occurring in heterogeneous mediums. Topics include oxidation and catalytic chemistry in the aqueous phase, adsorption isotherms and chemistry on surfaces, and thermodynamics of colloid formation and precipitation processes in particles. Term Project. 3 units, Spr (Tabazadeh)
