The coupling of chemical reactions in the simulation of Co2 sequestration introduces numerical issues due to phenomena happening in different time scales. The detailed catalog of components involved in reactions render the problem unmanageable, and initiate further scaling concerns due to their relative mass fractions. The focus of my research currently is the treatment of these and more issues caused by the coupling of chemical reactions in Stanford's GPRS (General Purpose Reservoir Simulator).
