The Stanford Radio Glaciology research group is led by Dustin Schroeder
and focuses on the subglacial and englacial conditions of rapidly changing ice sheets and the use of ice penetrating radar to study them and their potential contribution to the rate of sea level rise.
In general, we work on the fundamental problem of observing, understanding, and predicting the interaction of ice and water in Earth and planetary systems. In particular, we focus on the role that ice sheet hydrology plays in the evolution and stability of continental ice sheets.
We approach problems in terrestrial and planetary glaciology with the tools of both earth system science and radar system engineering by focusing on the flow of information and uncertainty through each step of the observational science process (instrument and survey design, data processing and analysis, modeling and inference).
