Ecology and Conservation
Throughout his Stanford career, Johnny has ventured into some of the world’s richest ecosystems to perform ecological field research. As a freshman, Johnny participated in the Stanford@SEA Program, which brought him to the central Pacific to study coral response to thermal stress at Palmyra atoll. Johnny also conducted a two-year conservation biology study of the world’s rarest macaw species, traveling to captive breeding centers on three continents and working with Brazilian conservation projects in the Amazon, Pantanal, and Caatinga. Next year Johnny will begin a PhD program in coral reef ecology at the University of Queensland.
