Narasimha D. Rao is currently a research scholar with the Energy program at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis. His research focuses on energy access and human development, energy and climate policy analysis, and low-carbon transition pathways. Aside from his research, he also leads a field project with World Resources Institute on assessing the socio-economic impacts of new, decentralized energy systems in India. Dr. Rao has previous master's degrees in electrical engineering and technology policy from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His professional experience includes four years as a Visiting Faculty at the Indian Institute of Management's Center for Public Policy in Bangalore, India, and seven years of consulting in the electricity industry in the US.
