Title: “Software Profiling and Optimization with Hardware Counters”
Abstract: Traditional software-based profiling methods can carry considerable overhead and can sometimes yield unclear or even misleading results. Newer profiling tools can use a CPU's built-in performance monitoring capabilities to provide fine-grained information that can be used to identify performance bottlenecks. This seminar provides a brief
overview of modern Intel CPU microarchitecture and what various hardware-based profiling tools can reveal about performance issues.
