Kimberly Nicholas' interest in agriculture is rooted in five generations of family farming in Sonoma, California. She received her Ph.D. from Stanford University in Environment and Resources in January 2009, and was the McKeehan Fellow in Horticulture and Agronomy at UC Davis in the Department of Viticulture and Enology. Kim’s research motivation is to understand what human changes to the Earth’s climate and land surface will mean for the future of the ecosystems on which we depend, and how we can better balance human needs with sustaining the planet’s life support systems.
