Dan grew up and went to school in Tucson, Arizona (University of Arizona, econ & int'l studies major), where thanks to the Flinn Foundation he was able to spend nearly two years in Tanzania and China teaching about HIV/AIDS and studying Mandarin. He then moved to Solomon Islands for eight months to set up the country's first HIV testing program. After living with fist-sized spiders, graduate school seemed like a good idea. Three jobs and a bike ride later, he arrived at Stanford GSB to figure out how to move from having local impact to having wider systemic impact. He now works for Dalberg Global Development Advisors in Johannesburg and moonlights as a video editor and design thinking consultant.
