Adrienne Pollack (Earth Systems BS '16, MS '17)

Earth Systems Program
August 26, 2015
Adrienne

Adrienne is passionate about food justice, nutrition, and related environmental issues. Her advocacy for sustainable food use has been shown through her involvement since 2013 with the Stanford Food Project where she organizes educational food justice events on campus and works with the dining halls to reduce food and water waste. She has also volunteered her time as a sustainability intern with Stanford Sustainable Dining where she founded the Stanford Seed Library to engage the student body in gardening.

During her summers, Adrienne interned at the Community Food Justice Coalition in Oakland where she wrote blogs on the Farm Bill, SNAP food stamps program, and the Affordable Care Act to help educate the wider community. Adrienne has also worked with Phat Beets Produce on their Edible Task Force to establish community gardens out of underused parks and vacant lots in Oakland. Adrienne's dedication to improving food systems at Stanford and in the greater Bay Area shines through in her daily life - her impeccable sourdough bread baking skills brings friends and strangers together and sparks conversation around important food justice issues.
