Ada Statler (BS '18)

December 6, 2017

Since spearheading a composting program in high school, Ada has worked in the environmental space as often as possible, carefully choosing where to focus her considerable talent to have the most impact. At Stanford, Ada has made a place for herself in environmental communication, through both her extracurricular activities and her professional experiences. As a sophomore, she conducted embedded reporting for the Stanford Daily during Fossil Free’s 2015 sit-in. She has also worked on Audubon’s communications team as a Schneider Fellow, and most recently, she spent the summer interviewing a variety of stakeholders working in the oil and renewable energy industries in inland California as a Volpert Scholar. Beyond her work in environmental communication, Ada has used her time at Stanford to explore a variety of other arenas. Last year, she participated in the Stanford in Washington program, where she worked on corporate social responsibility related to methane hydrates at the Environmental Defense Fund. Perhaps most impressively, during her time at Stanford, Ada has engaged in a variety of other issue areas. She is currently the Editor-in-Chief of the Stanford Daily, where she initiated a series on mental health resources and conversations with community centers about the newspaper’s inclusivity. She is also part of the Stanford Women’s Coalition, of which she was previously vice president, and organizes educational outreach events.
