Spring Review Process, Policy, and Forms
Deadline: May 6, 2014
- Graduate Student Degree-Progress and Career-Planning Worksheet (required for all GES graduate students)
- Committee Meeting Form (required for PhD candidates)
Each spring the GES department conducts a review of all graduate students (INCLUDING first year students). Ph.D. candidates must also have a meeting with their research committee. All forms are due to the Student Services Manager by May 6, 2014. This is your opportunity to communicate what you have accomplished this year to your advisor(s) and to the faculty. Please take the time to fill out the form as completely as possible so we can gain a thorough understanding of your accomplishments.
Students must fill out the worksheet and update their CV in preparation for a meeting with your advisor(s). You should give the complete worksheet and CV to your advisor(s) at least two days before the meeting. Suggestions for how to guide the discussion and what outcomes might be expected are reviewed on the last page of the worksheet. At the end of the discussion both you and your advisor will sign the printed copy of the worksheet and you will submit that to the GES Student Services Manager.
PhD Candidates must meet with their research committee. This Committee Meeting Form (PDF file) should be brought to your committee meeting and should be returned BY MAY 6th. All PhD students who have passed quals prior to January 2014 must meet with their research committee. Students scheduled to defend their dissertation by the end of September, 2014 are exempt from the research committee meeting only if their University Oral Exam form has been signed and submitted to the Student Services Manager. Your committee should consist of four members, however a committee of three will be accepted if you are unable to convene your entire committee for a meeting by the May 6th deadline. If you have an extension or waiver request, please contact Professor Dave Pollard, Director of Graduate Studies
