Researcher Profiles

Matthew Coble, Research Associate

Department of Geological & Environmental Sciences

I manage the SHRIMP-RG ion microprobe facility at Stanford University. My general research interests are focused on developing a more quantitative understanding of how large volume of rhyolite magma form within the crust. I am interested in developing new analytical techniques to better quantify magma petrogenesis using secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS), including measurements of Ti-in-Quartz, U-Pb and U-Th in Baddeleyite, volatiles in nominally anhydrous minerals.
