Windows PC access

Last revision July 29, 2004

Windows 95/98/NT/2000/ME computers use a proprietary Microsoft network protocol to share access to printers over the network. In order to control access from Windows computers to the School printers in Mitchell A65, direct access to the printers has been turned off, and Windows computers also must print through a spool (queue) on pangea. Find pangea in the Network Neighborhood, and then select the appropriate printer by name:

     a65-laserjet [LaserJet 4050TN in Mitchell A65]
     a65-color-inkjet [InkJet 2250TN in Mitchell A65]
ptolemy [DesignJet 2500 plotter in Mitchell B02]

You must supply a valid pangea account name and local pangea password (not your SUNet ID password) to get access. Course accounts and GIS lab accounts may be used as well as individual accounts. See the printing from a Windows PC web page for more information.

You may download the HP Windows drivers from HP's web site.
