Pangea web server

Last revision July 6, 2010

Pangea.stanford.edu serves web pages for the School, its departments, and research programs. It also provides "virtual host" service under other names for those programs. In addition, pangea serves personal web sites created by members of the Stanford Earth Sciences community.

Some research data is more easily distributed via anonymous ftp than on a web page, so pangea also provides anonymous ftp service.

Finally, pangea controls the printers and plotters in the Mitchell A65 teaching computer lab and Mitchell A59 G.R.I.D. research computing lab.

All files served by pangea are stored on the School of Earth Sciences file server sesfs.stanford.edu. There are no user accounts on pangea itself. Users connect to the sesfs file server to maintain web or anonymous ftp files served by pangea.

Pangea is a Red Hat Enterprise Linux v4 virtual machine.
