NRC report assess the impacts of climate change on social and political stresses

Assistant Professor David Lobell is among the authors of the new National Resource Council report  "Climate and Social Stress: Implications for Security Analysis". Commissioned by the U.S. intelligence community, the report summarizes the leading literature on climate change and conflict. Focusing on threats that require action in the next ten years, the authors conclude that the intelligence community must do more to understand how climate-related events “do or do not lead to important security-relevant outcomes such as political instability, violent conflict, humanitarian disasters, and disruptive migration.”
