Abstract

In February 2008 the WA Government announced investment into the Western Australian Geothermal Centre of Excellence with co-funding from CSIRO, UWA and Curtin University. The Centres mission is to underpin a new era of energy development; to provide excellence in geological understanding and exploitation of geothermal fields; to foster a capable work force for the geothermal industry by providing world class training to students in geothermal energy systems and to promote the development of “geothermal cities”.
