Abstract
Given the frequent drought that affect the national hydropower, variation of fossil fuel prices in the world and the increasing demand for more power, geothermal energy offers an indigenous environmental friendly alternative to Rwanda today. Rwanda could deliver about 170 to 300 MW of energy from geothermal power (GEA, 1999). The exploration for a geothermal development in Rwanda is still at an early stage.
