A STUDY OF THE DEVELOPMENT AND MANAGEMENT OF THE GEOTHERMAL RESOURCES IN TIANJIN

Abstract

The geothermal in the city of Tianjin is of typical low-medium geothermal resources in sedimentary basin. The area of all the 10 geothermal fields is 8700 km2,accounting for about 77% of the area of the municipality. The average geothermal gradient of the caprock in the geothermal fields is over 3.5?/100m.The municipal government pays great attention to geothermal management and set up the Geothermal Management Division in 1994. As a special administrative agency of the geothermal resources, the division is responsible for the technical development and the optimal use scheme of geothermal resource in Tianjin. In recent years, a lot of jobs have been done on geothermal utilization, reinjection, reservoir engineering and the digital system of the geothermal management, etc, under the supervision of the division. Meanwhile, the government has stipulated a series of laws and regulations, for the development and protection of geothermal resources. But there are still some problems waiting for further study.
