Abstract

Hydrogeochemical study based on the water chemical analysis of 71 samples from 33 various wells (geothermal wells, basement wells and a few Quaternary wells) was carried out, including water/rock equilibrium computation. It shows that there are obvious differences in the chemical features between geothermal water and cold water, and a transitional type can be recognized which represents a mixture of thermal and cold waters. Geological background corresponding to all these differences of hydrogeochemical condition was discussed in the paper. It is concluded that for seeking geothermal resources around the Olympic Park, a basement aquifer is better than the Quaternary aquifer; a deep buried basement aquifer is better than a shallow basement aquifer; a location close to a fault zone is better than a place without fault. Therefore, there are good prospects for geothermal resources exploration in the deeper part in the Olympic Park area.
