Abstract
Depending on climatic conditions, New Zealand faces a shortage of electricity to recent increased demand as tlie economy expands. Geothermal energy currently supplies 7% of electricity from of plant. Geothermal could supply 2000 and of generating capacity. Current electricity prices. the relatively small size of projects which approved and interests for geothermal resources likely to limit the contrihution which geothermal will make to any electricity shortfalls.
