Abstract:

The results of the exploration of the El Najo geothermal field during the period 1994-1995 are discussed. Different types of studies were carried out. including geological and geophysical (magnetotelluric, frequency soundings and soil-gas surveys) investigations. As a result of these investigations the conceptual model of the El Najo field was proposed and two zones of utmost interest for the future exploration was located (the El Najo graben and Santa Elena area) with the prognostic geothermal reservoir temperature of about 240-280?C.
