Abstract
Since 2022, recurring spikes in Total Suspended Solids (TSS) have been observed at the Malitbog Power Plant Interface. Investigations indicate that TSS accumulation and re- entrainment along the steam lines are primary contributors, compounded by the presence of dry fluids that reduce the effectiveness of steam separation in separator vessels. Elevated TSS levels in steam can result in well cut-outs, unplanned plant derations, equipment outages, increased maintenance costs, and significant revenue losses. Continuous TSS monitoring and control are therefore critical. Mitigating measures currently being implemented include improved TSS monitoring systems, application of good engineering practices, steam and brine line washing, and water induction into dry wells. These efforts aim to stabilize TSS concentrations and maintain clean steam production. For sustained operational efficiency, however, long-term success will depend on continuous monitoring and proactive process optimization to minimize future TSS-related disruptions and improve overall system performance.
