Abstract

Geospatial technology is rapidly transforming the exploration, monitoring, and management of geothermal resources. This presentation will showcase the powerful capabilities of Google Maps Platform (GMP) and Google Earth Engine (GEE) in supporting the geothermal sector, from early exploration and environmental monitoring to stakeholder engagement and ESG reporting. We will demonstrate how GMP enables intuitive visualization and data integration across platforms, while GEE provides access to a vast catalog of satellite imagery and cloud-based geospatial processing tools for scalable, real-time analysis. Case examples will highlight the use of these tools for land cover classification, change detection, thermal anomaly mapping, and impact assessments, enabling smarter, faster, and more transparent geothermal project planning and monitoring. By bridging data science and geoscience, GMP and GEE empower industry professionals to innovate across the geothermal lifecycle, advancing both operational efficiency and environmental stewardship in line with the conference’s vision of igniting ingenuity in geothermal development.
