Abstract
Butterworth has suggested that an equation of the form is useful in expressing the results of a large of correlations of holdup in two-phase gas-liquid flow. and have shown theoretically that the of equation is justified for the cases of the ideal stratified and flow where the flow of the phases are either both turbulent or both However, the analysis showed t h at the values of the indices A, q and r varied depending on the value of and the flow pattern. to holdup but specific correlations can obtained to cover a range of conditions.
