Abstract

Most of the wells in the Mahanagdong Geothermal Field need stimulation in order to initiate well discharge. This is mainly because the field lies at a much higher elevation of 700-900 mASL and therefore producing wells have a low water level at the wellbore. Added to that is the absence of gas and two-phase pressure build-up in most of the Mahanagdong wells.

To initiate well discharge in Mahanagdong wells with fhis condition, a well-to-well two-phase stimulation is conducted. Previous practice is done through the use of a 2" diameter stimulation line connected to the wing valve of each well. With this line size, stimulation time is longer, -2 days, and the chances of a successful discharge are seldom achieved. Thus, the use of a 1}-inch diameter two-phase branch line as stimulation line is preferred. With the use of this set-up, the time for two-phase stimulation has been greatly reduced and well discharge success rate significantly improved. This paper aims to present the procedures of the well-to-well two-phase stimulation based from actual field activities and drscuss the factors that made the large diameter stimulation line more advantageous.
