Abstract

The production of electrical energy is currently developing around one of the hydrothermal resources, where for the correct development of the projects the deposit must have good characteristics, among the most important are permeability, in situ fluid, and high temperature, but these conditions are limited to places with geologically favorable conditions, for example in areas close to the plate boundary; but there is another category of geothermal resources that has greater potential for exploitation.
Reservoirs of high temperature but impermeable conditions can be found in most parts of the world, these can be found at shallow depths in the Earth's crust, they have great potential for future geothermal development and are called Hot Dry Rock (HDR). Although these deposits have the highest amount of associated temperature, they have not been developed on a large scale due to the limited drilling technology that was available in previous years, with which new forms have been developed in recent years. to exploit these deposits called Advanced Geothermal Systems (AGS) and Enhanced Geothermal System (EGS) manages to approach these types of reservoirs in different ways and with which manages to generate energy from them.
In this paper we have analyzed several articles that mention the importance of these two new technologies for the future development of the geothermal industry, and how each of them has advantages and disadvantages; we have also mentioned several technical concepts that are important to consider for the advancement of these technologies, together with the specifications of the wells used in EGS and AGS.
