Abstract:

The decline of steam flow rate of some new production wells, drilled since 1990 in the Cerro Prieto geothermal field, has been analyzed. Besides
pressure drawdown and silica precipitation, the decline rate is also found to be affected by thermodynamics conditions in the reservoir. Shallow
and deep completions and the resulting decline trends are analyzed and discussed. These trends suggest that it is possible to combine the exponential and harmonic decline models to predict future behavior of
Cerro Prieto wells. Finally, an attempt is made to determinate whether any correlation exists between the location of the fault H and the mixture flow rate from these wells.
