At the Fourth Workshop on Geothermal Reservoir Engineering, we presented some preliminary results,1 on the evaluation of James' empirical formulae 2,3, for the determination of geothermal wellbore discharge characterfstics, based on Fauske's two-phase critical flow theory. Since that time, we have performed further work on the comparison of James' formulae with other two-phase critical flow models, and have also investigated the effects of noncondensable gases in wellbore discharge. The following is a summary of the work we have done.
