Abstract

Geothermal power plant is a power plant that also produces water besides producing power. The water is resulted from condensation process in the condenser and brine as separation process of geothermal fluid in the separator. This study investigates the implementation of water as a main driver of gas removal system (GRS) with water jet ejector (WJE) or combination with the other GRS system. The current configuration for GRS system uses the combination of SJE and LRVP. The SJE system uses motive steam so that the possibility of producing electricity decreases. A small scale geothermal power plant 3MW owned by BPPT located at Kamojang geothermal area becomes as a case study. Three GRS system configurations including combination of WJE and LRVP systems, one stage LRVP and two stages LRVP system were investigated to know the potential water as a main driver GRS system. Based on three GRS system configurations, simulation of net power generation and techno economic confirmed that the combination of WJE and LRVP can be implemented at small scale geothermal 3 MW as a pilot project. The potential saving from motive steam is about 0.23 MW if the motive steam in SJE system converts to electricity production. The best result for net power generation and techno economic is one stage LRVP system.
