Here we present the application of Electrical Impedance Tomography (EIT) to determine core saturation. This method is being investigated because the X-ray CT scan technique has limitations on pressure and temperature due to the strength of the nonferrous core holders available. It has been shown previously that EIT was able to measure the saturation distribution in a core of a two-phase system (oil and brine) in near real time. In this paper we present the results obtained by EIT on a two-phase (air water) system at atmospheric temperatures and pressures, and compare these results to those obtained by the traditional X-ray CT scan technique.
