Abstract:

The Tatun Volcano Group (TVG) is identified an active volcano, the Southern Sulfur and Northern Sulfur creeks are major rivers in TVG area. This study collects surface water and groundwater, and analyzes the stable isotope and major elements to understand the source and flow path. We collect 2 surface waters and 8 groundwater in the Southern Sulfur creek, and 4 surface waters and 4 groundwater in the Northern Sulfur creek. In the Southern Sulfur creek, the groundwater is Ca(HCO3)2 type and NaHCO3 type, and the stable isotopic values of oxygen and hydrogen are between -4.95 ‰ and -7.00 ‰, and from -17.31 ‰ to -38.41 ‰, respectively. For surface water of the Southern Sulfur creek, the stable isotopic values of oxygen and hydrogen are between -5.69‰ and -6.29 ‰, and from -23.81 ‰ to -29.48 ‰, respectively. In the Northern Sulfur creek, the groundwater is CaSO4 type, and the stable isotopic values of oxygen and hydrogen are between -4.56 ‰ and -5.91 ‰, and from -13.53 ‰ to -29.14 ‰, respectively. For surface water of the Northern Sulfur creek, the stable isotopic values of oxygen and hydrogen are between -4.86 ‰ and -5.87 ‰, and from -18.67 ‰ to -24.38 ‰, respectively. We will simulate flow path by the Geothermist’s Workbench software, and provide information of circulation of surface water and groundwater in TVG.
