Geochemical Study of the Geothermal Waters in North China

Abstract

Chemical data from about 200 thermal springs and wells from North China have been processed. The geothermal waters are classified into 5 groups with different chemical and geographical characteristics. All geothermal waters studied have high concentrationsof fluorine, silica, Rn, Ra, Most of the geothermal waters originate from meteoric water except a few brines which occur in some warm springs and wells near the coast. After deep circulation, the geothermal water mixes with near-surface water. The potential for discovery of other geothermal resources in North China is promising based on the results of this study.
