Abstract
Identification and understanding of structural geological features is of major interest for many geoscientific applications and is often considered as starting point for geological and geophysical studies and surveys. Especially for the successful implementation of geolab, as a large?scale geothermal hard rock laboratory in the crystalline basement, detailed knowledge of fault and fracture systems in a potential target area is crucial. This incorporates e.G. The spatial distributions, the geometries, and the kinematics of the structural inventory. In the framework of an ongoing feasibility study we focus on the southern schwarzwald as possible target area of geolab. As only little structural data are available for the granitic and gneissic basement rocks in the southern schwarzwald we mainly used remote sensing techniques. These techniques provide a quick access to structural information especially in such large areas with bad outcrop conditions. In this study we coupled the mapping of tectonic lineaments with geomorphological and hydrological analyses with the aim to characterize the influence of active tectonics and brittle deformation processes on the landscape evolution.
