Using geochemical signatures from water samples as a proxy for geothermal exploration has been applied for years. Among them, the temperature of reservoir is crucial for geothermal power generation. This paper is aimed to apply geotherometer to metamorphic and sedimentary regions in Taiwan. Metamorphic area is represented by Chingshui with sodium bicarbonate signature while Kuantzeling area is the example for sedimentary region with chloride characteristics. The estimate reservoir temperatures by different geothemometers showed different results. The estimated temperatures are 100, 179, 239, and 95 ēC for Kuantzeling by using silica, sodiumpotassium, sodiumpotassium-calcium and multicomponent geothermometers, while 100 ēC 174 ēC 237 ēC and110 ēC for Chonglun and 56.9 ēC150 ēC156 ēC 55 ēC for Liuchungshi. On the other hand, the estimated temperatures are 193 ēC164 ēC218 ēC160 ēC for Chingshui by the same geothermometers. The results obtained by silica and multicomponent geothermometers are more comparable than those from the other two geothermometers. The effect of water in rock will be added to the future work.
