Abstract:

Steam fractions can be calculated via an empirical method using the steam fraction model conditions developed by earlier researchers (eg Giggenbach, 1980; O'Amore et al, 1982). The only exception is that prior knowledge of the reactions controlling the gas composition of the reservoir f1uid is not required. Two techniques, one graphical and the other numerical, of calculating steam fractions by this new method are presented and their respective performances are assessed. The advantages and limitations of the new. method compared with previous steam fraction calculation methods are discussed
