Abstract:

The present study on the influence o f highvelocity effects on the flow o f hot-water through porous media was undertaken based upon the analysis of tests taken in the Cerro Prieto and East Mesa fields. These fields produce form a sedimentary formation of the'homogeneous" (non-fractured) type. The study i s based on a numerical solution to the radial flow (isothermal) problem o f hot-water considering high-velocity flow. An expression for the rate dependent pseudo-skin effect term i s derived. It i s demonstrated through an integration of the Forchheimer flow equation and the simulation o f drawdown tests that consider no skin damage that this pseudo-skin is essent i a l l y equal to the product Dw, where 0 i s the turbulent term coefficient defined as Bk/2rr h It i s also shown that the semilogarithmic slope of 1.1513 characteristic o f radial flow i s obtained once a stabilized high-velocity condition is reached.
