Geothermal Potential and the Status of Exploration in Democratic Republic of Congo

Abstract

The Democratic Republic of Congo is situated to the central Africa, crossed by the Rift Est African in its border East. It overflows a potentiality in geothermal resources enormous in its part East, notably in the provinces of the Katanga, Maniema, the North and the South Kivu and the Oriental Province. These resources were not the subject of a survey retailed in the past. Nevertheless, some among them have been identified and have been localized. A geothermal power station was put in working in the province of the Katanga in the years 1950, that work more nowadays. Currently, there are some projects in progress. We hope that they are going to succeed for a good exploitation of these resources.
