Abstract

Geothermal research, development and use in Bosnia and Herzegovina (B&H) have been performed from 2010 to 2014 in similar qualitative and quantitive level as 2005 - 2009 with exception of greater application of small GHP systems. Only one hypothermal new field is discovered (Domaljevac) and existing fields are not enlarged with new drillholes except Slobomir near Dvorovi in this period. Therefore, geothermal indications and significant achieved results of research with the purpose of further successful investigations are presented. Central and northern parts of B&H north of line Bihać-Prozor-Foča – Internal Dinarides, 40% of the whole territory, have significant hydrogeothermal resources with 87 active deposits, while in southern part - External Dinarides there is not any indication of geothermal potential. The most productive large confined deep systems are in hyperthermal Pannonian basin and numerous convective systems in semi opened structures in other regions. The main aquifers are karstified Mesozoic carbonates, among them Triassic limestones with great effective thickness, more than 500 m and the highest energetic potential. All active deposits with springs and wells present low enthalpy resources (
