Abstract
Since we developed the 12.5MW Otake geothermal power plant (Kyushu Electric Power Co.,Icn.) which started operation in 1967 as Japan’s first geothermal power plant with water-dominated production wells, we supplied more than one hundred geothermal power plants for a half of a century. In addition to our product line-up of flash geothermal power plant, we have started binary geothermal power plant business in Japanese market collaborating with Turboden which is European ORC supplier. Becase the characteristics of the geothermal resource is quite different depending on the geothermal well, it is important to optimize the system configuration for each site in order to maximaze the economical efficiency. We made some case study of possible configurations such as flash, binary and hybrid (flash + binary) and evaluated the matching to the heat source through the examination. This paper describes the methodology and its result of optimizing the power plant configuration.
