Abstract
Some insights gained from tracer test analysis in conjunction with geothermal projects (2009-2013) in Southern Germany are briefly presented: (I) if short-term single-well heat push-pull, or push-shut-in tests conducted at geothermal re-injection wells during advanced cooling stages show limited sensitivity to reservoir parameters, the reason for this is not the large-scale reservoir cooling; (II) when target reservoirs exceed a certain size, or in certain ‘unfavorable’ flow-field configurations (like for CCS-related ‘brine displacement’), passive in-situ sampling becomes a must; (III) single-well tests intended for hydrogeological characterization of target sites can reasonably be merged with ‘standard’ inter-well operation.
