Abstract
The paper focuses on the geochemical aspects of geothermal heat exploitation and more specifically on dissolution and precipitation reactions within the reservoir. Using the TOUGHREACT (Xu et al., 2006) simulation package, data sets of reservoir and brine compositions, borrowed to actual (carbonate and clastic) reservoir and fluid environments are therefore imported in TOUGHREACT to model the geochemical reactions by modifying temperatures, according to a standardized workflow. Conclusions are drawn which highlight the impacts on porosity/permeability patterns of decreasing injection temperatures and guidelines suggested for further research commitments.
