Abstract
The world’s largest single-cylinder geothermal turbine has recently been deployed at the Nga Awa Purua Geothermal Power Station. The rated 140MW NAP plant employs a triple flash steam separation and steam purification system. The plant utilizes conventional mechanical separation and scrubbing water injection processes but during its design, construction and commissioning, an additional automated steam purity monitoring technology was developed. This paper describes the steam purity monitoring system and its effectiveness as applied to this project.
