Abstract
Two-phase tracer tests using alcohols were conducted at the Matsukawa geothermal field in order to characterize the inter-well connectivity in the reservoir. Tracers were injected into wells M-6, M-13 and M-14, and their returns indicated hydraulic connections among wells M-6, M-8 and M-13, and among wells M-7, M-11 and M-14. The geochemical and physical observations also revealed the relatively strong connections between wells M-6 and M-8, and between wells M-11 and M-14. Furthermore, these inter-well connections are also supported by the geochemical grouping of production wells using the steam geochemistry. This evaluation has played a central role in the modeling of the inter-well connectivity and the distribution of permeable fractures in the Matsukawa field.
