Abstract

Tatapani geothermal field, Surguja district, Anhoni Samoni, Hoshangabad district, Salbardi, Amaravati district, Sativli, Ganeshpuri, Thane district and Unhavre (Khed) Ratnagiri district, are the main hot spring areas in Central India. The geochemical study of these hot springs suggest that the hot springs in West Coast have alkali chloride type water while most of the other hot springs have alkali bicarbonate type water. The thermal water of Sativli hot spring is similar to geothermal water while all the other hot springs have immature, shallow meteoric water. The data suggest that exploration to deeper levels is needed in these geothermal fields to assess accurately the resource potential of the hot spring areas.
